Portrait Practise
I thought it was time to do some portrait practise. I found some photo's I like and I tried to paint them in a bit of a different way. I really enjoyed playing with the values and colours. Next up will probably be my Dark Souls inspired sketches, I'm addicted to that game!

N0de W0rld - Aeontology Vigilante
Done for the N0de W0rld project on facebook. This is an Aeontology Vigilante, they believe that "clones" have no part
in society. Even though the killing of "clones" is outlawed, these
vigilantes patrol the streets to rid the world of them.Their headsensor is able to pick up the magnetic-field generated a "clone" a block away.

Helios
I've started with exploring the art-direction for my personal project; Helios. A number of sketches on my blog are from the same project but I finally started to take it more serious now. I hope to have some more work to show soon!

Emperors - The finished ones
Remember those sketches from last week? Well, I finally got permission to show the finals. They're going into the update for Empire, a deck building strategy game on IOS and Android. They where quite a rush job because I only had about a week to do these... It was a lot of fun to do though!

Just to be clear, this was done before I started working at C.A. I only just now got permission to show them.Tuesday, October 22, 2013
The Emperors - Approved Sketches
Here's
a little teaser for stuff I've done for the Empire game on IOS and
Android. These are the approved sketches that have already been made
public. I hope to be able to show the final versions soon!

Disclaimer; This work is unrelated to my current job at the Creative Assembly, this is a freelance assignment I did before joining C.A.

Beric Dondarrion
Beric Dondarrion, the Lighting Lord. I've been listening to the Game of Thrones audiobooks while working and it's taking over my imagination. This is a portrait I've done on the side that was never supposed to be finished. But some how I finished it...

Killzone Inspired Sketches
I went for a desert setting with these ones, mainly since it hasn't been featured in the games yet. However, I did want them to be more heavily armored, so I guess they're sporting climate-control in those suits. The desert setting kinda went out of the window along the line although some features may be reminiscent of it. I really enjoyed doing these and I think I might do a couple more in the near future. Of course this is by no means a job application...(or is it?!)

Favorite Samurai Movies Ever - First three.
I've had these sleeping on my hard-drive for a while now. I was once planning to do a whole series but like most things I plan to do they have to make place for the here and now. They're basically my version of the movie posters for my favorite samurai movies ever.
I've got a list of seven that I still want to do and I might want to revisit these along the line as this style is still under development. It's in that sense a bit of and experiment. When I go through my blog I notice that I switch styles like model changes clothes at a fashion show... oh well, you can't say I don't try.

WIP LAPD Officer
This bad-boy has been stuck on my hard-drive for a while now and I really need to finish it. I hope that by posting this work in progress I can get myself motivated to finish it soon.

20 Minutes Demons
Often when I close my eyes I see images of dungeons and castle grounds inhabited by demons, monsters and old gods. You may be wondering if I have some kind of mental dissorder, and you could be right, but it's Demon/Dark Souls that keeps haunting me. There's something about that game that gripped me and never let go... although I'm really really bad at it!Each one of these images took me no longer that 20 minutes, so again it's a lunch-break well spent.

And more Lunch-Break Sketches
Since I don't have had the time to spent any time on personal work I like to cram in some sketching in my lunch breaks. Most of them go right in to the dustbin the others I post here.

Lunch-Break sketch 1204076
Inspired by the latest sci-fi designs by Jeff Simpson and reading both "Necromancer" and "Do androids dream of electric sheep" in the last week. I've spent my lunch-break (and a little more time... ssst!) to paint this enforcer of the law. Now, if I spent all my lunch-breaks like this I might actually get somewhere...

Merry Sketchmess!
The only possibility I've had over the last two months to do some digital personal work was during lunch and after-hours at work. In between the dragons, sirens and knights I still have enough energy to whip out some sketches that hopefully one day will get some polish and can be called finished.
The dwarf was a brain-fart, something about it being more logical for them to have spears or halberds instead of axes. That way they can keep some distance between their taller enemies.
The other two are for a game idea of a melee sci-fi game that based on the idea that force fields only block fast projectiles therefore melee becomes relevant in modern warfare again... okay, anyway it's Halo with swords and hammers, happy?
I can wait to have a decent set-up at home again so I can spend some more time on these. Have a great holiday and see you in 2013!
